Welcome
LGBT-TRISTAR is a government-funded technical assistance (TA) and training services division of Gil Gerald & Associates, Inc. targeting providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) prevention, treatment and recovery support services. We provide on-site and online technical assistance and training designed to equip administrators and staff to provide services that are more accessible and culturally responsive to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) individuals and families. LGBT-TRISTAR is currently a partner in a collaboration led by ONTRACK Program Resources, under contract to the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs (ADP). This collaboration, the Community Alliance for CLAS, has as its purpose to build capacity among AOD prevention, treatment and recovery support services providers to implement the Federal Government's Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) standards.

Agencies outside California, AOD services providers, and other health and social services organizations seeking technical assistance and in-service training specifically related to cultural competency in serving LGBTQ individuals and families, beyond guidance provided by the CLAS standards, may obtain services on a fee basis through LGBT-ACCESS. LGBT-ACCESS is a division of Gil Gerald & Associates created to provide TA and training services addressing a broader set of health and social service professions.

Earn Continuing Education Credit
Gil Gerald & Associates is proud to offer Continuing Education (CE) credit to California Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors, MFTs and LCSWs. CE certificates will be provided free of charge to participants who receive trainings funded through ADP's Community Alliance for CLAS project. Several courses developed under LGBT-TRISTAR's 2007-2010 contract with ADP are available online for free; however, a small processing fee is required to obtain certificates as this activity is no longer supported by the State. Courses developed independently of ADP funding, and provided through LGBT-ACCESS, involve reasonable fees to cover the costs of the courses and the processing of certificates.

Link to Useful Resources
Since 2004, LGBT-TRISTAR Staff and Consultants, as well as allies within the LGBT Constituent Committee of the Cailfornia Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, have produced a series of groundbreaking reports crucial to understanding what needs to change to improve behavioral health care outcomes for LGBT individuals and families. We have also compiled many useful resources from AOD and LGBT advocates which relate to LGBT-TRISTAR's mission.
